Higher quality models of toe sandals have a special footbed, which allows to cope with longer distances. Trekking sandals are cross-strap models with velcro closures. These models ensure more support and still provide enough foot freedom. In addition, this variant of women's sandal has a thick sole with a non-slip tread, making them suitable for light hiking on flat terrain as well as everyday activities. Thanks to their lightness, trekking sandals are great for storage, making them ideal for travel.

Another variant of outdoor sandals are very robust models, which visually look almost like completely closed shoes and only have additional ventilation slots on the sides and in the heel area and can thus also provide good ventilation for the feet. With a thick, cushioning sole and particularly slip-resistant profile, these sandals are also suitable for very stony paths and light mountain tours. However, it should be noted that this type of footwear is not suitable for tours in alpine terrain, as open shoes can never protect the foot as optimally as specially designed mountain boots do.
