The Salewa success story begins in 1935 as manufacturer for SAddler and LEather WAres in Munich. In 1955 the introduction and the establishment in the outdoor and sports market was made with the development and production of the legendary Andes backpack. In the 1960s, Salewa became a leader in alpine innovation and set new standards with inventions such as the fully adjustable Salewa classic light crampon and the tubular ice screw, which today are still industry standards. For the traditional company Salewa, now headquartered in Bolzano in South Tyrol, there has never been and there will never be a standstill, after the acquisition of well-known manufacturers and reputable specialists in the ski touring sector, Salewa is one of the largest and most innovative suppliers for mountain sports equipment in the world. After a global brand relaunch in 2014, all products from outdoor clothing to footwear, backpacks and tents up to mountaineering equipment such as ropes, slings and hooks carry the new dynamic brand logo and with a new Corporate Identity, Salewa has taken a worldwide leading position in the field of alpine sports.
