What are the types of tent mules?
- Slippers: Slippers are special shoes that are worn in the apartment or in the house. These shoes are not suitable as street shoes, because these models have a light sole and are often made of cozy materials. Nowadays, there is a huge selection of slippers for young and old, made of a wide variety of materials and color combinations.
- Carpet slippers: The most popular slippers among Germans are the carpet slippers. Originally, those come from the Orient. The slippers have a sole made of cork or leather and a front part made of fabric. So, due to the lack of heel part, you can comfortably slip into the shoe. Slippers are made of different materials, such as the felt slipper. The felt warms the foot significantly stronger and is therefore optimal for winter.
- Sandals: Sandals as slippers have a specific footbed. These slippers create a balance for the foot muscles, which provides a comfortable feeling. Sandals are often used in standing professions, kindergartens or schools.
- Cottage slippers: For the cold season, cottage slippers are the best choice for home. With cottage slippers, you will definitely never get cold again. This type of slippers are usually very wide cut. They also have a sole made of non-slip material, such as leather or rubber. The rest of the shoe is made of pure wool or wool felt. In the past, as the name suggests, these shoes were specifically designed for cottages, but nowadays they are also popular in houses and apartments.
- Clogs: Clogs are popularly worn in the warmer seasons. Clogs have a wooden bottom, which provides a comfortable feeling. The upper material is usually made of leather or canvas, which is attached to the side of the sole. The modern version of clogs is made of synthetic material. The plastic significantly improves ventilation and promotes a comfortable feeling. Among other things, the slippers are popular with caregivers, as these protect the feet.
- Camping slippers: Slippers for camping are often ridiculed. But these slippers are very useful in many ways, because you bring significantly less sand and dirt into the tent. In addition, they keep your feet warm and comfortable. The shoe convinces with a Pertex® outer layer. Which makes the shoe not only warm and comfortable but also robust and water-repellent. Also ideal for the hut! The camping slippers are made of natural and synthetic textiles, but mostly down. A great plus of these slippers is that they can be quickly stowed in a backpack or bag. Camping slippers are also non-slip, which makes them suitable for house or apartment.
How to properly care for slippers?
Slippers do not need to be cleaned every week. Certainly, we wear slippers every day. But while street shoes are permanently confronted with dirt and grime when outside, it is largely clean at home. Here, food residues, liquids or even dust are the biggest opponent for a clean slipper.
3 ways for cleaning:
- Damp cloth: The gentlest way to clean your slipper is with a damp rag. By warm water, it does wonders for cleaning. For superficial stains, dishwashing liquid helps. Dishwashing liquid has a grease-dissolving effect, which makes it easier to remove contamination from the materials. However, avoid a long scrubbing with the sponge. Here, the upper materials can be unnecessarily damaged. After wiping the slipper, you should leave it for a few hours so that it can dry properly. This process can be accelerated under the heater.
- Washing machine: Felt and wool slippers can be washed at 30° unless otherwise noted. Important: do not use a dryer or fabric softener! It is best to stuff the slippers for drying with newspaper, so that the shape is not lost. If your slippers have a rubber or cork footbed you should not wash them in the washing machine.
- Brush: Impurities are good to remove with a brush. Especially dust and animal hair can be removed from the upper material of the shoes. However, it is different for stains caused by coffee, for example. Depending on the slipper, you should pay attention to which brush you should use.
