One thing has never changed at Marmot since their beginning; their commitment to designing the highest quality performance products. In 1976 Marmot was the first outdoor brand that started to use Gore-Tex fabrications and today is the oldest customer and manufacturer of Gore products in the world outdoor market. Marmot – designed by climbers for climbers

The success story of Marmot began in the 70s in a dorm room of the University of California at Santa Cruz. Two climbing fanatic students founded the Marmot Club as they were in Alaska’s Juneau Icefield on a glaciology project. The two climbers were tinkering for their project on down jackets, sweatshirts and hoodies, parkas and various down sleeping bags in their dorm room. A pioneering result was the Marmot Pika, now known as CWM, one of the warmest sleeping bags at the time. The Marmot Climbing Club became soon the well-known and successful American outdoor brand Marmot. Eventually in 2002, the creation of Marmot Mountain Europe GmbH based in Schwaig near Nurnberg marked a further milestone in the company’s history.

Sustainability commitment-Marmot People/Product/Planet

The philosophy behind Marmot is based on the three-fold responsibility to the people, the product and the planet. The creation of decent and fair human working conditions and the support of social initiatives are part of the responsibility to the people. The products are designed to meet the highest expectations of mountain professionals and enthusiasts. The global ecological environmental awareness of Marmot results in the production of sustainable and environmental friendly products. Marmot, along with Vaude and many other outdoor manufacturers is a bluesign-system partner.

Insight into the Marmot product range

The clothing line of Marmot consists of three major collections Marmot outerwear, sportswear and underwear. In close collaboration with brands such as Gore-Tex, Polartec, Windstopper or Pertex, Marmot offers ultra-technical hardshell jackets, functional softshells, various fleece jackets and insulated, ultralight Primaloft jackets. Products such as the Marmot Alpinist Jacket or the Oracle Jacket have also won many awards from the outdoor industry. The jackets and pants, mid- and baselayers are suitable for both daily and the demanding use in the mountains. The high-quality synthetic fibers and down sleeping bags and different backpack models are other top sellers of the Marmot's product range. From the classic hiking backpack, the lightweight alpine pack to spacious trekking rucksacks, bags and kids rucksacks, Marmot offers the right companion for all ages and almost any occasion. Sleeping bag models just like the Marmot Plasma, Helium, Lithium, or Atom assure naturelovers and climbing enthusiasts quiet nights at the bottom of the mountain and openair.
