Helly Hansen

Helly Hansen

To regard Helly Hansen as a pure lifestyle company in the upper price segment would be a real misunderstanding. The Norwegian company originally specialised in high-quality work and sailing clothing. In the course of time, many experiences with these special requirements for weather suitability have also been transferred to winter sports and leisure wear. In a Helly Hansen rain jacket, people have always defied storms and wetness levels. Company founder Helly Juell Hansen started producing weatherproof sailing clothing as early as 1877. The then company name "Helly J. Hansens Oljeklædefabrik" indicates that these were oil jackets and trousers. Helly Hansen is even considered the inventor of weatherproof oil clothing. His particular inventiveness still lives on today and explains the company's continuing success story.

Helly Hansen - Outdoor clothing for work and leisure

In the 1920s, synthetic fabrics and PVC were integrated into the Norwegian clothing business. Since the 1970s, the company has been working successfully on making outdoor fashion as a lifestyle group. What Helly Hansen's designers have developed is far too good to be tailored to a small clientele. The Norwegian company has remained true to its brand core Helly Hansen Workwear and Sailing Wear to this day. The specialisation of weather clothing was only extended to other areas and made accessible to a wider target group.

Bad weather conditions demand smart solutions

When the weather forecast reports rising storm fronts, days of continuous rain or snowfall, the time is right for efficient and reliably waterproof weather clothing. What is useful for yachtsmen, water sportsmen or hikers can also be used by other people as protective outdoor clothing. At Helly Hansen, the designers have for years seen their primary task in defying storms, downpours, wind gusts and an approaching climate change with suitable clothing. A wide variety of needs can be combined in one jacket. Helly Hansen's product range is therefore very wide. Many working people or regatta sailors from all over the world trust in the qualities of Helly Hansen's weather clothing - and with appealing, timelessly classic designs and smart ideas, the Norwegian company also played its part in the front rows of the outdoor fashion industry.

In addition to weatherproof safety clothing, typical sailing clothing and hard-wearing workwear - the Helly Hansen Workwear line - the collection now also includes a wide range of weatherproof rain jackets and trousers, shirts, shoes and functional underwear. The stylistic diversity of the brand is just as convincing as the suitability of the clothing for various outdoor applications. The following areas are served:

  • Ski jackets and pants
  • Sail jackets and trousers
  • Hiking clothes
  • Parkas
  • Rain jackets and trousers
  • Shell jackets
  • Leisure jackets
  • Vests
  • Shirts
  • Pullover and Hoodies
  • Functional underwear and
  • Shoes.

Helly Hansen's product range is not only extremely versatile, but also always of high quality. The company uses a double H as a sign of recognition. Today, the company is based in Moss am Oslofjord. The company is one of the world's leading manufacturers of workwear and sailing wear.

At Helly Hansen, everything is jacket like trousers

To many Helly Hansen jackets a matching pair of trousers is offered, and these are complemented by functional Helly Hansen shoes. Because if the weather gets really uncomfortable, you have to protect your legs and feet. Here too, there is a risk of heat loss due to soaking and subsequent cooling. At Helly Hansen, our employees never tire of inventing new laminations, technologies or high-tech membranes. As early as the 1980s, the company developed a highly breathable and waterproof high-tech membrane. The company follows the onion principle conceptually. New fabrics and laminates are tested for their qualities in an in-house Tech-Clinic. At Helly Hansen, coordinated base layers, mid layers and top layers can be combined as desired. Appealing optics and modern technology mate to clothing that can withstand any weather conditions.

The fact that different jackets and trousers are used for skiing than for hiking, sailing or recreational purposes should be obvious to everyone interested in Helly Hansen. Some characteristics are also transferable to leisure wear. Others would be superfluous. And some features only make sense for certain uses. Sailing jackets, for example, focus on the wide cut because they are usually worn over everyday clothing. Ski jackets, on the other hand, must be streamlined. A signal yellow hood can also have a fashionable appeal. This is why many coastal inhabitants wear Helly Hansen's sailing jackets as non-sailors. Many of the label's outdoor jackets are available in four or more colours in the Helly Hansen Shop from eXXpozed.

Environmental protection is part of Helly Hansen's concept

Whoever is as attached to the landscape as Helly Hansen's 500-strong team takes care of the environment. The water and rocky landscapes of Norway should be burdened as little as possible by production processes. Throughout the entire route between design and sale, this company is committed to high environmental standards. It is striking that almost all Helly Hansen jackets and trousers receive top marks in customer surveys. From this it can be concluded that it is well invested money to protect oneself against bad weather with a Helly Hansen rain jacket and Helly Hansen shoes.
